I'm Back!
I'm Back!
I've been watching how social media have replaced for some people their day job. Some successful career people have quit their traditional job and have pursued social media to gain income. Many people in their YouTube Channels or blogs or both actually gained income and not only survived but thrived for example PointlessBlog - YouTube and Zoella - YouTube. Some people pursued social media on full time bases and others as a slash to their normal job. I think I'm the latter type.
I like my day job, but I also like to follow up on creative adventures in writing and ideas. This year it'll be good if I write more on a regular bases!
I wasn't active on social media other than the occasional tweets or Facebook posts. But boy oh boy you learn so much from watching or reading certain people on YouTube and blogs. You get high buzzed with ideas and motivated to do things differently.
I usually like to watch people daily vlogs (although not on a daily bases) such as Pointlessblogvlog and some of his friends' YouTube channels. Why I watch he's daily vlog! He's usually positive, good chatter to the camera, and lead an active lifestyle with family and friends. He shows briefly how he invest and plans the growth of his brand Pointlessblog. And I like how he uses the holistic approach of entertaining and also teaching how to be successful You Tuber or entrepreneur by talking about organizing meetings, planning sessions and recently he mentioned he's hiring people and also launching a new project.
Pointlessblog and Zoella's Vlogs usually are long about fifteen minutes to thirty minutes or longer. Imagine the set of skills they have let me count some of their ways:
- Shooting videos
- Editing videos (the hardest to do in my opinion, its on my to do list)
- Speaking to the camera and looking good in the process
- Networking
- Planning You Tube ideas
- Collaborating
- Making money out of You Tube (high level skill!)
- Keeping fans coming back
- Protecting he's private life while having daily vlogs
I never plan to have daily vlog or a You Tube channel where I film myself. But perhaps its good when the creative idea strikes I'll be able to film it, edit it and You Tube it. I appreciate the skills, learning and sharing I'll have from that.
Not all You Tube videos are long and when I was watching this YouTube channel Do It On A Dime
I was inspired to dig my old and neglected blog back to life! It's a start!
The blog that I like to read is Done by Forty. He's usual long blogs and analysis and the people who comments on his blog I find is always enjoyable thought provoking read. Disclaimer I'm not retiring earlier than is the norm. I also like to follow on The $1000 Project! | SugarMamma and of course Living On A Dime - YouTube !
I'm toying with the idea to blog about saving, investing & making money.
These people, many others via online, articles or books and my own motivation, have inspired me to explore various topics and ideas and to write them creatively!
The highest clicked blog post so far is my book review Girl Saves Boy by Steph Bowe http://creativefishi.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/1st-book-review-girl-saves-boy-by-steph.html , perhaps I'll do few more of that. I'm on the edge of exploring creative fiction writing not fully immersed in it yet. Writing fiction or non-fiction is better than not writing at all.
